Create your character

Pick an archetype, a region, a temperament and an ambition: every choice changes the story, and "Regenerate" gives you a fresh variant with the same traits.

Name the character, choose a profile and generate their story.

Fictional text assembled locally in your browser: characters and events are not official or canonical.

A backstory example

Marco Vitale, a calculating coastal smuggler from the Leonida Keys with a clear ambition. This is what comes out:

PAST

Marco Vitale's story starts among the bridges, marinas and channels of the Leonida Keys. Learned to read tides and patrols before learning to drive. Can identify a boat by sound before it clears the mangroves.

NOW

Since then, Marco Vitale moves small loads between private docks and tourist marinas and speaks only after counting exits, witnesses and risks. The objective is to save enough to leave Leonida without saying goodbye.

RP HOOK

A shipment arrived light and its owner wants the difference. Half the escape fund has already gone to a broker who may not exist. The need for control causes hesitation when improvisation matters. In the Keys, every escape route depends on the tide. Moving forward requires a crew, but trust is already part of the risk.

How to use the backstory

  • For a server application

Many RP servers ask for a character story before letting you in. Start here and rewrite it in your own words: servers want it personal.

  • As a base to change

Add names, places and people from your group. Keep the hook: it is what gets the first scenes going.

  • To play with friends

Generate one character each from different regions, then look for what ties them together: you get a crew with a shared story.

Roleplay FAQ

What is an RP backstory?

It is your character’s story before you start playing them: where they come from, what they do, what they want and what they hide. In roleplay it keeps the character consistent and gives other players something to hook into.

Is the generator free? Does it store my data?

It is free and needs no account. The story is assembled in your browser: the name you type and the choices you make never reach our server and are not stored.

Will GTA 6 have roleplay?

Rockstar has not announced roleplay servers for GTA 6. In 2023 it acquired Cfx.re, the team behind FiveM and RedM, the RP platforms for GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2. GTA 6 launches on November 19, 2026 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, and a PC version has not been announced.

Are the regions and stories official?

The regions are: Vice City, Leonida Keys, Grassrivers, Port Gellhorn, Mount Kalaga and Ambrosia are the areas of Leonida shown by Rockstar. The stories are fiction, assembled from sentences we wrote, and are not part of the game’s plot.

Can I use it on a GTA 5 RP server?

Yes: archetypes, temperament, ambition and hooks work in any city. Just swap the Leonida references for Los Santos or whatever setting your server uses.
