GTA 6 cheats: why nobody knows them yet

Published on 8 min read By Alex di LeonidaGuide Last checked

If you searched for “GTA 6 cheats” you found lists of codes, often under headlines promising the full set for PS5, Xbox and PC. None of those codes is a GTA 6 cheat, for a reason that is not a matter of opinion: the game comes out on November 19, 2026, and GTA cheat codes are not announced, they are discovered by playing.

It is not just us saying it: they say it too

The most honest thing we can do is not invent a convenient enemy. We opened the pages ranking for this search, and almost all of them, in the body of the article, admit the codes are not known.

  • GTABase: “the official list of GTA 6 Cheats for PC is not known yet”, and it promises to update the page “once they’re discovered”.
  • Driffle: “Rockstar hasn’t dropped any official cheats, developer commands, or console codes for the game, and won’t until it actually ships”.
  • gta6cheatcodes.com: “Status: Unconfirmed. These are Grand Theft Auto V’s cheat codes”, adding that anyone posting “confirmed” GTA 6 cheat codes before November 19, 2026 is guessing.
  • GTA BOOM: “Confirmed GTA 6 cheat codes: 0”.

So no, it is not true that “everyone makes them up”. Most of those sites, if you read them, tell you the truth.

The deception lives in the headline, not the article

The problem is something subtler. The same articles that admit inside that they know nothing are headlined “GTA 6 Cheat Codes: Full List for PS5, Xbox & PC (2026)” or “All Cheats for PS5, Xbox & PC”.

People searching on Google do not always click through. They read the headline, see “full list”, and take away that a list exists. The gap between the promise in the search result and the admission in the text is the actual mechanism, and it requires nobody to lie outright.

One detail gives the motive away: those headlines almost always include PC. GTA 6’s PC version has not been announced, has no date and no store. Promising cheats for a platform that does not exist is writing for the search engine, not for the player.

One case, though, is genuine fabrication

Among the pages we opened, one crosses the line. The site gta6cheatscode.com publishes codes presented as GTA 6 cheats with a “Verified for launch day” badge and the line “Verified 2026-05-12”, claims “32 codes ready”, and lists PC among the platforms.

May 12, 2026 is six months before the game comes out. Nobody could verify anything, because there was nothing to verify.

And which codes are they? GTA 5’s, identical character for character. This, for instance, is presented there as GTA 6 invincibility:

Right, X, Right, Left, Right, R1, Right, Left, X, Triangle

That is GTA 5’s invincibility code, from 2013. You can check it yourself against any GTA 5 list. Same story for “all weapons” and for the super jump.

The technical reason they cannot be known

Here is the part almost nobody explains, and it is the most convincing.

In Rockstar games, cheats are not stored as readable text. The game does not contain the string “HESOYAM” somewhere: it contains a value computed from that string, a hash. When you type something, the game hashes what you typed and compares it against the ones it knows.

That has two consequences. The first is that two different sequences can trigger the same cheat, if they produce the same value. The second is the one that matters: to search for the codes you need the game’s executable in hand. Until GTA 6 ships, the file to start from does not exist. It is not that the codes are secret: there is nothing to attack yet.

How they were actually found, the other times

The history of the series tells exactly this story, and it is documented.

GTA San Andreas. Some unannounced codes were found with a home-made brute force: a user wired a PlayStation 2 pad to a PC’s parallel port through optocouplers, and let software try every possible combination. Engadget documented it on January 18, 2005, about three months after the game came out. The last twelve unknown codes arrived on May 3, 2005, seven months after launch, via another brute-force tool.

Red Dead Redemption 2. It has 37 cheats, and eight of them are not typed at all: they unlock only by buying a specific newspaper issue inside the game (the Hanover Gazette #27, the Saint Denis Times #46, #47 and others). Rockstar did not publish them, it hid them in the game world to be found. And they were not known right away: weeks after release the specialist press still listed an incomplete set, with a note that more would follow.

What will happen on November 19

There will be no Rockstar press release with the list. Historically it does not do that: in Red Dead Redemption 2 it literally buried the cheats inside newspapers you buy with in-game money.

November 19 starts a hunt, not a publication. Thousands of people will try combinations, some will dig into the files, and the list will take shape over the following days and weeks, one piece at a time. That is how it has gone every time.

We will update this page with the codes that actually turn out to work, each with its source, and not a minute earlier.

One thing to know before using them

In short

  • No GTA 6 cheat code is known, and Rockstar has not even confirmed that cheats will exist.
  • Most sites admit this in the text: the deception is in the headlines promising a “full list”, especially when they include PC, which is not even an announced platform.
  • At least one site fabricates outright: it publishes GTA 5’s codes marked “Verified for launch day”, dated six months before release.
  • Technically they cannot be known: cheats are hashes, and without the game’s executable there is nothing to brute-force.
  • In past GTA games players found them months after launch, by brute force. In RDR2, eight of the 37 cheats were hidden inside newspapers you buy in-game.

Frequently asked questions

What are the GTA 6 cheat codes?

None are known. Rockstar has not published codes for GTA 6 and has not stated that the game will have any. Every list in circulation today contains codes from other games, almost always GTA 5, or invented sequences.

Will Rockstar publish the cheats on release day?

Historically, no. In Red Dead Redemption 2, eight of the 37 cheats unlock only by buying specific newspapers inside the game: Rockstar hides them so they get discovered. November 19 is far more likely to start a collective hunt than to bring an announcement.

Why can nobody know the codes in advance?

Because in Rockstar games cheats are not stored as readable text but as computed values, and searching for them requires the game’s executable. Until GTA 6 ships, the file to start from does not exist.

Will GTA 5’s codes work on GTA 6?

There is no reason to think so. The input system has changed almost every instalment: button combinations in GTA III, Vice City and San Andreas, phone numbers in GTA IV, both in GTA 5, and text phrases unlocked by newspapers in Red Dead Redemption 2.

Will there be GTA 6 cheats on PC?

GTA 6’s PC version has not been announced: no date, no store. Pages promising cheats “for PC” are chasing a search query, not describing a game that exists.

Do cheats disable trophies?

In recent Rockstar games, yes. In Red Dead Redemption 2 cheats disable trophies and block saving; in GTA 5 they disable trophies and achievements for the session. For GTA 6 that is the most likely precedent, but it is not confirmed yet.

Be ready on launch day.
