GTA 6: Sony asks PS4 users to move to PS5
Sony is sending emails and notifications to some PlayStation 4 users to remind them that GTA 6 requires a PS5. Messages reported by multiple outlets appear to target people who wishlisted the game or still spend significant time in GTA 5 on PS4.
The campaign encourages users to buy a PlayStation 5 before the November 19, 2026 launch. It does not introduce a new game version or announce a bundle, beta or early access program.
What the campaign confirms

The campaign also shows PlayStation using GTA 6 to encourage users to leave the previous generation. It does not prove that a dedicated PS5 bundle or new exclusive features exist.
Watch for copied messages
A real campaign can be imitated by people trying to steal credentials or payment details. That does not make every GTA 6 email fake, but it does call for a few extra checks:
- Do not enter credentials through a link received by email. Open the PlayStation Store or official app manually.
- Check the actual link destination, not only the sender name shown on screen.
- Treat beta access, free keys and early access as unverified unless the same offer appears on official Rockstar or PlayStation channels.
- Enable two-step verification on your PlayStation account and store your recovery codes safely.
It would be inaccurate to say Rockstar has ruled out every possible beta forever. The accurate statement is that no beta has been announced. Verify every offer through official channels.
