Two weeks to go until you can download GTA 6, and the questions are always the same: when does the preload start, and how much space do you need? The date is not in doubt. On size, since October there is finally a number that does not come from multiplication.

The size: about 210 GB on PS5, according to Store data

It is still the first figure that comes from the store rather than from a calculation. Before, the “150 to 200 GB” estimate was going around, built from GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2, and in October the leaker Cyberleek had talked about a development build over 200 GB. All numbers in the same ballpark, but only this one comes from PlayStation. For Xbox there is nothing yet: a similar figure is likely, but that is a guess.

Will it fit on your console?

Early PS5 models have an 825 GB SSD, with about 667 GB actually usable; newer 1 TB models leave a little more. If that is the size, on an 825 GB PS5 GTA 6 takes almost a third of the space. On a 512 GB Xbox Series S, with about 364 GB free, space is even tighter.

So the advice is simple: free up space before November 12, not that evening. Leave some room beyond the game’s size, because installation can need extra space and the day-one patch comes on top.
