Pink flamingos are among the animals that populate Leonida, GTA 6’s fictional Florida-inspired state. The opening of Trailer 1 flies over the wetlands among the flamingos: an image that has become a symbol of the game’s wildlife and of the tropical, postcard tone of Vice City.
Their environment is the inland marshes and lagoons, such as the Grassrivers: shallow water, reeds and mangroves. They are the in-game counterpart of the American flamingo, the bird most associated with the Florida coast. The same wetlands hint at other wildlife too, from herons to the dolphin along the shore.
In those same wetlands Rockstar has since confirmed a far bulkier presence in writing: the alligators, which the official Grassrivers copy calls the area’s most famous attraction.
Their in-game behavior remains to be seen: whether they are only set dressing or react to the player will be clear at launch and with gameplay. We do not assign mechanics Rockstar has not shown yet.
