The sea turtle is the animal Rockstar puts in the foreground of the only official image devoted to the seabed of the Leonida Keys. It swims above the coral, as wide as a diver, while two people in wetsuits pass to one side.
One clarification so the source stays checkable: this is not a caption visible on the page, it is the image’s alt text. It is still copy written by Rockstar, but it is worth knowing where it lives.
The seabed is not a postcard
The point of this page is not the turtle itself, it is where the turtle is. The Keys have a populated seabed, and the August 27, 2026 Extended Look showed that you actually go down there.
Press previews place diving among the optional open-world activities, alongside pool, minigolf, kayaking, skydiving, the gym and the zoo. That too stays reported.
Studying animals
In the Extended Look, approaching a dog brings up a menu with Scold, Pet and Study. According to IGN, studying feeds a list of animals to complete, Red Dead Redemption 2 style, at the zoo and out in the world. If that list covers marine wildlife too, the turtle is an entry you only find by going under. That is an inference, not a fact.

The exact species, its behavior, whether you can interact with it, and what there really is to find on the Keys seabed.
