Rockstar has announced Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look, arriving Thursday, August 27, 2026. It premieres exclusively on Netflix and reaches Rockstar’s YouTube channel and the official site six hours later.

That gap is not a detail. In Europe it is the difference between an evening premiere and the small hours of the following morning.

Why Netflix

This is the first time Rockstar has handed the premiere of one of its own videos to a streaming platform. Brandon Riegg, Netflix vice president, described the anticipation around Grand Theft Auto VI as unprecedented and framed the platform as a place where the most ambitious storytelling, from any medium, can reach the widest possible audience.

The commercial logic reads plainly: Netflix reports more than 325 million subscribers, an audience that includes a great many people who never follow gaming channels. Take-Two chief executive Strauss Zelnick put it bluntly in an interview with IGN, telling anyone without a subscription that they should get one.

What has not been said

Precision matters here, because this is where invented numbers spread fastest.

The running time is not official. Several outlets suggest something close to half an hour, but neither Rockstar nor Netflix has stated a length.
The contents are not detailed. The shared description points to the next evolution of the series without specifying whether it shows raw gameplay, a systems presentation, or a mix.
It was not called “Trailer 3”. The official name is An Extended Look, and the distinction matters: an extended look is not necessarily the third trailer in the sense the community uses the term.

Are the leaked mechanics there? Fuel, a six star wanted level, disarms and the taser are the most cited: if they appear in official material they stop being reported and become confirmed.
How different does it look? The leaked footage is over a year old, so the comparison measures how far the work has come.
Will Rockstar address the affair? So far the company has acted only through copyright takedowns, with no statement.
