GTA 6 Launch Trailer is out: what it shows, from the Keys to Vice City
Rockstar released the GTA 6 Launch Trailer on October 15, 2026 at 9am ET, five weeks before release. It runs a minute and a half, it is almost all story and very little played game, and it opens somewhere we had only glimpsed so far: the Keys, with Jason polishing a boat at a boatyard and explaining, in voice-over, that he got into trouble in the army. Then the edit speeds up through Vice City and closes on the date that has not moved since, November 19, 2026.
The second piece of news is in the soundtrack: the trailer debuts Flower in a Hurricane, a new track by Justice with Tame Impala, SZA and King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard. And in the description Rockstar presents the French duo as composers of the game’s original score.

Jason’s t-shirt reads U.S. Army Marauder: the same army that, as his voice says in the opening, he did not leave on good terms. Launch Trailer frame © Rockstar Games.

What you see, in order
The trailer opens and closes with PlayStation branding: first the “Plays best on PS5” card with the console, at the end Sony’s “Play has no limits”. It is the marketing deal already seen on pre-orders and the cover, and it says nothing about the game.
The Keys. The first in-game image is a pickup towing a jet ski past the “Welcome to The Keys” sign, painted with a heron and a shark. Then an aerial view of a shed reading Brian’s Marina, with racks full of boats. Jason works there: he polishes a motorboat hull, takes a call in the yard, looks at the water from a dock next to a moored seaplane.
Over the images is his voice, the only spoken part of the trailer along with the ending. Jason says he got into trouble in the army and did not leave on good terms, and that banks will not lend to people like him. Then, on the phone, a recorded voice announces: “This is a free call from Lucia Caminos”. It is the wording of calls from a detention facility, and it ties back to Trailer 1, which opened with Lucia in prison. VICE and SVG read it that way, as a call from jail; VGTimes sees it instead as news of her release. The trailer does not settle it. The official captions confirm the lines, and the official site has said for a year that Brian Heder runs a boatyard in the Leonida Keys and puts Jason up: the name on the sign closes the loop, even if the trailer never says it out loud.

“Rockstar Games presents”. The card appears over Vice City at night, then the edit changes pace: a green lowrider with a painted spiderweb and a pistol out of the window, the iguana at the roadside as a red car arrives, and the logo fading over the skyline at sunset, with the Ferris wheel.
Jason and Lucia. She leans on the window of a red convertible, he drives: the Trailer 2 couple, back together. From here the trailer alternates the two registers that carry it to the end, the heist and the love story.
The heist. Armed men wading through mangroves at sunset, night-vision goggles on their foreheads; the dark inside of a vehicle, with a man in a tactical vest; what looks like an airboat in the swamp; and above all a bank vault, shot through its round door, with two women inside and banknotes flying and burning.
Vice City at speed. A pickup races down an airport runway under an airliner wing and someone jumps onto the landing gear; a sliding chase through the art deco hotels of Vice Beach, with the police; a dirt bike jumping over the elevated train; a helicopter exploding behind an armed man on a helipad; a pink biplane over the beach with a person standing on the wing.
The Leonida gallery. Faces and one-second situations: a bodybuilder at the gym, two women in pink balaclavas with gold rifles on a stage, in front of a camera, a man with braids and a tactical vest in front of an explosion, a night scene shot from below with a man holding his foot on someone’s neck. Rockstar names nobody. The press recognizes the latter as Raul Bautista, and the man with braids as the police officer fans call Méndez, already seen in the Extended Look but without an official profile: plausible readings, which our breakdown keeps apart from what you see.
The ending. Lucia on a rooftop at sunset, an illegal street race at night, a shootout at a roadworks site, a sniper with the city behind him. Here the voices return: a question, whether they will be okay, and an answer that says they have stuck together through everything. The last image before the logo is a couple holding hands on the edge of a balcony and jumping, together, into a blue-lit pool.
What is new, and what is not
Compared with the August Extended Look, twenty-seven minutes of gameplay, this is a trailer in the classic sense: no interface, no systems explained, no mechanic demonstrated. The news is in the story and the world.
- The Keys, finally on screen. The sign and the boatyard give the archipelago two places with a name written on screen.
- Jason, before the story. The trailer shows him at work, wearing the army t-shirt, with his voice explaining why he has no alternatives: the life the heist pulls him out of.
- The bank heist. The vault is the most concrete image of the “score” that carries the plot.
- The original score has an author. Justice’s name is the biggest music news since the album announcement.
What is not there matters as much: no news on a PC version or on the online. The trailer ends on “Pre-order now”, and the date stays November 19 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, with digital preload from November 12.
Our scene-by-scene breakdown goes into the detail, separating what you see from what the press drew from it. Every official video, with the key facts, is on the trailers page.
In short
- The Launch Trailer came out on October 15, 2026 at 9am ET: a minute and a half, captured in-game on PS5.
- It opens in the Keys, with Jason working at Brian’s Marina talking about his army trouble, and a call from Lucia worded like a call from jail.
- It shows a heist inside a bank vault, the most concrete image of the score that carries the plot.
- It debuts Justice’s Flower in a Hurricane, and Rockstar names Justice as composers of the original score.
- The date does not change: November 19, 2026, preload from the 12th.
Frequently asked questions
Is the Launch Trailer Trailer 3?
For the press yes, for Rockstar no. The official name is Launch Trailer; many outlets count it as the third trailer because the August Extended Look was a 27-minute gameplay presentation, not a trailer. We told the story of “Trailer 3” in a separate piece.
What song is in the GTA 6 Launch Trailer?
Flower in a Hurricane by Justice, with Tame Impala, SZA and King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard. It is a new single, released with the trailer, and it is part of Grand Theft Auto VI: The Album.
Is the trailer gameplay?
It was captured entirely in-game on PlayStation 5, but almost all of it looks like cutscenes: there is no interface, and no scene demonstrates a mechanic. For the game in motion the reference is still the Extended Look.
Has the release date changed?
No. The end card says “November 19, 2026”: GTA 6 launches on November 19 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
