For months the question was “when does GTA 6 Trailer 3 come out?”. The answer arrived on October 15, 2026 at 9 a.m. ET, when Rockstar released a new trailer running a minute and a half. Except it does not call it Trailer 3: the official title is Grand Theft Auto VI Launch Trailer.

Why it is called the Launch Trailer and not Trailer 3
The numbering was always the community’s, not Rockstar’s. After the December 2023 announcement trailer and the May 2025 second trailer, “Trailer 3” became the collective name for whatever came next.
What came next, on August 27, 2026, was An Extended Look: about twenty-seven minutes of gameplay, with no narration, premiering on Netflix. It was not a trailer and Rockstar never called it one: it is the format you explain a game with, not the one you sell it with, and we took it apart in the analysis. That is why, when a ninety-second video with a song, a trailer edit and the date at the end arrived in October, much of the press counted it as the third trailer. In the community’s sense it is; for Rockstar it is the launch trailer.
The wrong dates, and the right one
An industry of dates had grown around the “Trailer 3” name. The most cited came from leaker Tom Henderson, who pointed to August 6, 2026, presenting it as an estimate based on Rockstar’s habits rather than inside information. On August 6 Rockstar did announce something, but it was the Extended Look’s date: the prediction got the day right and the object wrong. The trailer arrived more than two months later, five weeks before launch.
The method this page used to urge caution about those dates still holds: an announcement is real only when it appears on the GTA VI site, the Newswire or Rockstar’s verified profiles. Screenshots with no URL, countdowns Rockstar did not publish, and dates attributed to anonymous insiders are not enough.
