The green iguana is among the animals that populate Leonida, GTA 6’s fictional Florida-inspired state. It appears in Rockstar’s official material, moving along the streets and green areas, often unbothered by the traffic around it.
In real-world Florida the green iguana is an invasive species that has become a symbol of the landscape, and the game brings it to Leonida in the same spirit: wildlife living alongside the city. It is one of the many animals that bring the setting to life, from the flamingos of the wetlands to the dolphin along the coast, all the way to the streets of Vice City.
An image of one wearing a Hawaiian shirt and a small crown also does the rounds, and went viral: we do not credit it to Rockstar, because we could not trace the official material it supposedly comes from. Calling the iguana a “pet” is likewise a community reading: Rockstar has not described mechanics of that kind. In-game behavior and interactions will be confirmed at launch, with nothing taken for granted before then.
