The pelican is one of GTA 6’s birds named in writing. Game Informer’s article on Leonida’s 170-plus species, published in late September 2026 with the cover story, lists it among the native Florida animals that coexist in the game’s state, alongside flamingos, manatees and, “of course”, alligators.

In real-world Florida the brown pelican is a fixture of harbors, piers and beaches: it perches on dock pilings and dives headfirst to fish. The Leonida Keys, with their piers and fishing boats, and the harbor of Port Gellhorn are the most natural places to expect it, but that is a deduction from geography, not an announced fact.
