In the US the store uses East Coast midnight for the whole country, so Central gets the game at 11:00 pm, Mountain at 10:00 pm and Pacific at 9:00 pm on November 18. Canada’s listings use the same 05:00 UTC time.
For months a single “around 05:00 UTC” figure circulated as the global unlock time. The listings explain where it came from: it is the US store’s time, midnight in New York, not a worldwide one.
Preload: from November 12
Preloading starts on November 12, 2026, one week before release: Take-Two confirmed it in the pre-order announcement, and the store listings mention a “7-day pre-load”. The exact start time of the preload is not written anywhere. If it follows the same logic as the release, it opens at local midnight on the 12th, but that is an inference.

If you bought a boxed copy
The box contains a download code, not a disc, and Rockstar says that is precisely so boxed buyers can preload from November 12. The weak spot is shipping: if the package arrives after midnight on the 19th, you are the one waiting, not the game. If playing at the first minute matters to you, either pick a retailer that guarantees delivery before the 19th or go digital.
